Church of Nossa Senhora do Terço : Recife, Brazil
Built in the early 18th century, and completely rebuilt in the second half of the 19th century, the Church of Nossa Senhora do Terço, in the São José neighbourhood, initially belonged to the Confraria de Santa Rita de Cássia. It became a place of memory for black culture from the 1960s, when the Night of the Silent Drums began, an important festive and religious celebration involving the maracatu's-nation of the Metropolitan Region of Recife.
